I recently setup pfsense I a Lenovo TS140. Right now it's just stock configuration. I haven't added any packages. I'm also using my Nighthawk x6 as my wireless access point for the tablets and phones. Everything else in the house is hardwired. Does anyone have any recommendations on settings, packages, or anything at all. I'm afraid I jumped in a little over my head here. I've been reading up on the OS in the manual. Slowly understanding more as I go but was hoping for a little help from anyone with experience. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

pfblockerng.

block every inbound and outbound in the top 20 and inbound in everything else.

Dashboard widgets are nice.

What are your goals of installing pfsense?

Basically I want to lock down my network from intruders. Run most of my activity through a vpn. Have a reverse proxy installed for other programs that access the internet. Be able to access my computers and nas from outside my network with ddns.

pfblockerng previously mentioned would be a start. OpenVPN remote access would allow you to access the network from outside your home.
