pfSense help?

Hi guys,

I just setup pfsense on my rack and I am trying to use pfsense as a "pass-thru" device. Meaning, I want to use it to monitor and regulate network traffic.

As it stands it seems to be blocking everything including ICMP - am I missing a setting on configuration?

btw; I need to control/manage pfsense via WAN interface so I have a rule setup to forward port 80 to WAN interface.

I think I looked at this once and it's a pain to accomplish this. Not sure how well it works either. If your looking for something you might want to consider using untangle in a bridge. It seems to do a better job as a bridge and a gateway

Can you explain exactly what you're trying to do better?

Do you want the firewall features at all? There's an option to disable the firewall under System > Advanced. Which also turns off NAT.

I would also suggest you post your question/issue on the pfsense forums at http://forum.pfsense.org/ or get on IRC onto Freenode and post to #pfsense. You might get a better/quicker response there.

Sounds like what you want is a transparent bridge. I've never set one of these up though, but I hear its trickier than just setting it up as a router.
As far as management from outside, you need a firewall rule under WAN to allow access to the WAN IP and port you're accessing the webGUI from. I would recommend switching it to HTTPS rather than plain old HTTP.
