What are you personal goals in folding, both short term or long term?

It's always nice to know what other people's goals are and too see if you can help them out.

Your goal might be 10kppd or 100kppd. A point total by a certain date.

My goals:

Short term is to get everything up and running and break 100kppd.

Long term is to be in the top 30 by January 1st, 2010 and bring in 5 new members.

Short term: Overclock my parents pc for more pointz!

Long term: One of my goals is eventually to be able to afford to put together a dual xeon rig, with some gt300 graphics cards- if they ever move beyond the vaporware stage...and of course to find a cure :)

Dear god for the money you'd need you wouldn't go to a bank instead you'd ask the Federal Reserve for a loan :D.

My goal, continue 100% uptime while boosting points and lowering power requirements.

Get my 100k online, run at 100-115k for two weeks while I up the points, get top producer just once so I can say I was there and then settle down into a nice solid 75-80 during the offtime. I'll keep the spare rig on standby for competitions or emergency ramps, but I want a solid 75k.

Team wise, get 3 more people in and help wherever I'm needed

PS
Also figure out what I do now with that F@H write up I did

Short Term: As I've mentioned before, to catch and pass Kendrak by Thanksgiving day - So far I'm on target still, right Kendrak? :)

Long term (maybe not so far away), to break 100k PPD for the [H]orde!

Short term: Maintain my current output.

Long term: Perhaps upgrade my main rig to a GT300 card around next fall if I can. Maybe add another GTX2xx card to my secondary PC or upgrade the CPU to a quad or a dual-core with VT-x.

I want to get to 20k per day in the short term. Then I want to build a naked folder with a quad and run 4 8800gt on it for an additional 20k+. So my long term goal is 40k per day.

I have realized lately that I really only have one goal.....

Support this community and do what I can to make sure that everyone feels welcome and wanted here. So many have come and gone (even in the short time I've been here), and that makes me sad. I try as hard as I can to add a little humor and fun around here. Let's be really honest, this project and the goal we all seek is a double edged sword... it really is. On one side, we are all banding together to do good things. On the other side, we use a very competitive points structure to measure our individual "contribution" and in doing so, we inadvertently may be sabotaging the whole team mentality.

Now, understand that I'm not pointing fingers, I'm not saying that we doing anything wrong, and in fact I think this is probably the first time that I've voiced my opinion on this... but how many times have some of us tried to either recruit new members or bring former folders back? A lot. How many times have we been successful? Not many. Point being, I think that when potential folders lurk here (and elsewhere, of course) many may immediately think that if you can't come here and start knocking out 100k ppd that it's not worth participating because small producers may not be appreciated or wanted. There are many reasons why people leave, but don't try and tell me that this is not also a reason why some choose to leave. Of course we all know that any contribution is welcome and wanted, but regardless, I feel what I'm saying here is pretty valid.

That being said, I am not going to sit here and lie... I check my stats at least once a day, and honestly now that I have a smart phone it's more like three or four. Do I like having big production days? Fuck yeah I do, and so does everyone else. But recently I've been thinking... look at how many points anonymous folders produce.... and why do you suppose these people fold anonymously? Is it that these people really care more about a cure than personal recognition, or are they just anti-social?

Didn't expect to hear that from a [H]ardDC'er of the month, did ya;)

Anyhow, here's the deal, some of you know this and some don't... "big days" for me are somewhere around 4500~5000ppd. My average production is somewhere around 2000ppd. And honestly, the really big days I've had weren't really all mine at all. Here's what this team is all about in my opinion... those days were when other folders here folded in my name... I don't know why they did, but they did. That, a mi amigos, is what makes this team the best team in the world... and I owe everyone here a big ass thank you.

Long winded, boring and semi-rantish, I know.... but I had to get it off my chest and figured here would be as good a place as any. So there you have it, that's my goal, hope it's worthy of all the respect you all have given me over the last couple years... and in return, I will continue to try and function as the ornamental welcome wagon and purveyor of cheap beer and fine tamales....I do realize that we all do a really good job of trying to make new members feel welcome, it's just that's all I really got at this point.

Fold On!!!!

Awesome post Digital, and well worth reading. I think it can be said with 100% certainty that you have always had the respect of the whole [H] folding community.

Fold [H]ard, brothers and Sisters! :)

Short Term: Get the Farm set (I've been doing rebuilds ever few weeks. And Plan for another givaway.

Long Term: Continue to be a strong member of the [H]orde and help the team continue to be the #1 team in the world, both in community and points.

BTW, great words my friend Digi.

short term: steady as she goes around 35k PPD

long term: I don't know. Depends on changes in the cost of electricity and available funds to buy more hardware so I can fold more than I currently can now.

At the end of each day, I'm just glad to contributing to this worth cause that impacts millions of people each year.

Break 100k PPD and maintain that rate for 365 days

Long term: get and stay in the top 20

I started folding a (while)back and only had the long term goal of being in the top 1000 worldwide and top 100 on the team. Of course this was before the mega point per day of gui. Once that started it was pretty much zoom zoom and being in the top 20 producer etc. Recently I just don't have the time or patience to babysit all the rigs for eue and so forth. It was quite a fun ride but had the too easy feeling mowing up thru the ranks as you all like to term it. At the moment I just need to take a break and do some work on WCG. This is still a great team, fold on.

Short Term:- No 1 spot .......
Long Term:- No 1 spot ...... :p

Luck ............ :D

good topic gkanakis...one of those nebulous thoughts i had once...i think, once...

I am aiming for solid 10k ppd. the 8800/CPU/MoBo and RAM should be here today (thanks again Kendrak!)...so it looks like i will be able to acheive and sustain this.

I like what digital_exhaust had to say. there is a catch 22 lurking in the system, but i for one try to keep perspective. its for the sceince and the team...then my ego :p

i say this as i am getting ready to be mowed by T4rd (to name one ).

so on the personal aspect...T4rd - you suck! :(

on the big picture..T4rd,.nice going man! :D

i will continue to grind, but me thinks you gonna mow me over. Fold [H]ard!

Short Term - Keep my i7 steady at 8700ppd. Put a 8800gt and adaquate PSU in fathers rig so I have a steady 4k ppd from it. Get pieces for second boxen together by end of month.
Long Term - Finally stay consistant in my contributions to the all mighty [H]orde!

Short Term - Get my Q9550 rig fully runing with 3 total Virtual machines and 4 instances total of CPU clients. Get my second FireGL runing as well.

Long Term - Attempt to attain and maintain 10,000PPD, harder to do for me with not the right equiptment, we will see.

LOL, you saw me on your threat list, eh? I just noticed you popped up on my attack list a few days ago at Defcon 5 ("Peace") when my PPD dropped for some reason. Usually there's only like 1 or 2 people my threat list. I was like "Oh, Griff is actually pushing a bit of PPD now!" Sorry but my 2nd GTX280 came in last Friday, so prepare to be
chores005.gif
:D, hah.

Short term: Attain and maintain around 20k PPD, which should be almost what I average with my new GTX 280 addition. Also break into the top 400 within the next couple weeks.

Long term: Hopefully acquire some new hardware to raise my PPD even more so I can eventually get in the top 50 or so. I'm entering every contest I can in here so I can achieve this without breaking the bank (and upsetting the wife, hah).

Short term - Keep my 5000PPD going strong which shouldn't be much of a problem.
Long term - Get at least 10000PPD.

Short term, I want to hit 500K points on Xmas day.
Long term, I want to shoot for the Top 100 for team 33 :D

Short term: Get a non-green badge. Continue to have a nice method to test my new air-cooling configs.
Long term: Get on page 2 of long term folders! I'm going to move up to page four of active [H] folders today, yay!

You go Hemigod! I see you burning past me as I type. I think you'll get both goals.

Short Term: Stay consistent with my ~4500pts a day with a single 8800gt
Long Term: Build a folding farm, so I can be a shepard herding my digital sheep :D

Short Term: Figure out a way to replace this bloody noisy GTX275 cooler and get the 8800 GTS back online. 10k+ PPD.

Long Term: Putting a few GPU-stuffed systems together for the company and using it to fold with during down time :p

I have a Thermalright T-Rad2 GTX on my 275 and like it a lot. It was very easy to install and sound quiet to me with the supplied fans.

I'm actually looking at/saving up for the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 280. Same price but comes with three 92 mm fans :)

I tried that on my BFG 275 OC and tossed it in favor of the T-Rad2 because I could not SLI.

Things to consider:
The cooling fins on heatsink would not clear the capacitors, so I had to do some(lot) modding. Check your clearances against their drawings.
The cooler is a lot longer than the video card, I had to wedge it into my Element S mid-tower case as it barely cleared my drive bay cage.
If you are planning on SLI, forget it, it covers 3 slots.

There's a monster of a thread at Tech PowerUp that you may want to look at before making a final decision.

Thank you, tjmagneto :)

I doubt I'll have the cash to buy it until next year anyway, but it's good to do some research in advance.
