Performance question..

Evening gents and ladies. I have a quick question:

Currently I am running two 36GB Raptors in RAID0 (and before you comment negatively, I've already read about that being a no-no. I did it about a year or more ago). I also have a WD2500KS (250GB, 16MB cache) available. Now I'm trying to quiet my rig down as it is in my bedroom. I just moved (tonight in fact) the entire thing to a Lian Li PC-7B Plus II from a CM Stacker 810 to reduce the number of fans and to go all 120mm (to include the CPU fan). Enough rambling.

Am I going to see a considerable performance hit by moving my OS, games, etc to the KS? I know it would be much quieter, but I like the snappy response I have now.

I would imagine not. Especially if these are the first-generation Raptors (the first ones to hit the market, model 360GD), the KS will be a moderate step down at worst, and much quieter.

Well, a few things happened. I first tried taking an image of my current OS drive array, and then loading it to the KS via Acronis True Image. This was not successful. It loaded to the new drive but was corrupted, and it somehow hosed the old array (all drives booted once together, but after that I d/c'ed the RAID drives). Not sure how the old array got screwed up, but I couldn't get it to boot. I ended up pulling the Raptors and just loading the OS from slipstream disc to the KS. So far it seems about as fast, a bit slower here and there but nothing terrible.
