Performance Issues with Borderlands 2, Anybody have them?

The benchmark is not implemented yet, unfortunately. I'll be benching the game.

Edit:
I'm dissapointed. I still get drops to 40fps with the 640 dedicated to PhysX high. I begin to think it is the demanding settings in general that are taxing my cards too much.

That is preposterous.... any one should easily be able to max the game out at a solid 60fps with a dedicated PPU. It just shows that Gearbox spent time on developing a massively entertaining game but threw the performance equation out of the box.. period..

When are you going to bring the patch Gearbox....

Well I was running 1920x1080 with 4xSGSSAA. But considering that SLI scaling suffers a bit due to PhysX and that I had asymmetric load on both 580s, I expected at least a bit of improvement.

yeah I can play basically everything maxed out with my dual 480's on the latest drivers but when I got BL2 it just played around 25-60 FPS:confused: I just figured it was an issue with the game that a patch will soon fix

I'm not sure what issue you guys are having. I'm using an i5 2500K at 4.2GHz and a GTX 670 at 1266MHz at 2560x1600 at max detail and high physics and my framerate stays pegged at 60fps V-sync capped. This is in single player mode.

Even when many barrels are exploding and you're throwing grenades around (that possibly spawn child grenades)?

The newest Borderlands 2 patch fixes the issues with Captain Scarlette's DLC when PhysX is set to medium or high. Its listed in the changelog. Looks like it wasn't an Nvidia issue but a Gearbox issue.

Have you tried the normal levels?. Any difference?

I'm on a 4Ghz i7-870 and a GTX670 and have everything maxed + physx at high and am pegged at 60fps. I do get some strange screen tearing near the middle of the screen with Vsync on at times though. I'm not sure what's up with that yet.

I fixed my problems, I pulled my 670 and put in a 460.

This fucking pisses me off. Almost $400 on a video card and it can't play the game. getting ready to sell the 670 honestly.

ill give you 100 bucks for the 670
Trololol
did you go though and disable all that adaptive vsync bs ?

Dude, I've tried everything and like 6 different drivers to no avail. i did find when I uninstalled evga's precision x, it got better.

I think... PC hardware might not be for you.

might be some weird power saving issue
id reinstall the 670 and go thought and set the following
muligpu mode > single display performance mode
adaptive vsync > off
power saving mode> maximum performance
fxaa > off
force triple buffering > off

Did, but will look at it again tomorrow. I've also done 3x reinstalls as well.

keke 680 SLI + 680 for PhysX, sits on a solid 60fps.

Of course it does, you have three numbers of the world`s fastest graphics chip to date to play a DX9 title. I would not be amazed to see even 1000 fps with that setup on a game running on Unreal Engine.

Honestly, I have not started to enjoy my 680 to the fullest extent yet. Hope that when drivers mature performance and stability would be increased to my expectation. I could have paired two last gen beasts rather than buying a 680 to get flaky performance in many titles I thought the 680 would perform well. In Crysis 2 maxed out the fps drops to 30 when I am outside at 1080p using the latest 306.97 drivers..... Anyone thinks my stock 2500k is a bottleneck for my overclocked 680 in some games that do not benefit from a Quad core?, because some people think it is and some do not and in the end I fail to get a concrete answer.

This is the camp I am in. I bought the card as it was a promo with BL2. I can play every game but the one I want to play.

Bottleneck? No. Could you gain SOME performance from overclocking your CPU? Yes. 3.8 - 4.GHz is a walk in the park for a 2500k, there's no real reason for your not to overclock it that far. That's not even really pushing it and it can be done on nearly stock voltage settings. I have one of my 2500K's at home running 4GHz, and the other running 4.2GHz with very small voltage bumps. The 2500K at 4.2GHz is only clocked higher than the other one because I use it for more RPG's, RTS games which tend to rely on the CPU a little more.

These are all set in the nvidia control panel and have the same issues...

I'll have to check it again when I got a chance. I know nothing was near 100% when I had it running a few weeks back...

I also game at 2560x1600, the card has 2gb ram, some tell me I should have 3gb or more for video ram, but for an unreal-based game, really?

boarderlands is texture memory intensive be-live it or but if your 460 can do then that 670 should more then do it hmmm

I hope you meant Borderlands 2 is NOT texture memory intensive. On my GTX660TI at 2560X1600 it barely goes above 750 Megs of VRAM. That's nothing. :)

the 460 does it with about 10 less fps but it also doesnt crash, still over 40 frames. With the 670, it is capped at 60 due to vsync.

something occurs to me
its not throttling the pcie link speed down is it
open up the windows power management and set the pcie link state power management to OFF

out of curiosity if you drop back to 1900x1200 what happens ?
I have played at the default resolution and the issues do not happen near as much as if I have it at 2560x1600.

I'll check, I know I use the high performance profile as I also fold on this machine when not gaming, I don't have failed WU so I know both the video and cpu are holding up.

Do you have intel speed step turned on? Trying turning it off. I know that sounds strange but it fixed my issues:confused:

This is only relevant to those who have overclocked intel cpus.

It is off.

hmmm well I am stumped without seeing the problem I am out of ideas
I assume you went though a disabled useless stuff like AV/other background processes to see if you can isolate the conflict
sounds like you got a bottleneck someplace or maby the card is just defective you try a furmark run ?>

I did a fumark run but can again. No AV, fresh install...
