Hi Folks,

Over the weekend, I found a deal on Craigslist to good to be true. Was perusing through the ad's and came across an Intel Q9650 for $230 still sealed in the retail box. I bought it of course. Now my question is simple, How much more performance will I get over my Q9400? I know I more then doubled my cache memory and went over 3GHz. But how much "real world" performance will I get?

the Q9650 is a better overclocker or even a Q6600 would be better in that dept but as for stock you wont see enough difference for it to be worth $230 , but even with a stock fan it should hit 3.4 to 3.6 easy
 
i dont know what you had your q9400 clocked at, but an e0 stepping q9650 should do 4 plus fairly easy with a little juice and a decent hs/f. at stock speeds, you wont see much perf bump from the extra cache and 330mhz clock speed increase. soitanly nothing you would notice while gaming.
