Sorry I was trying to put a poll up but apparently there is a 10 minute limit. I couldn't get the thread to delete did not think anyone would respond. It alright though I did not think the poll format here was going to work for what I wanted anyway.

Basically I wanted a poll to rate 4 things on a scale of 1-10 for how important they are to purchase a video card. 1 being irrelevant and 10 being instant deal breaker

-low cost
-high performance
-lotsa heat
-loud noise

For my part

-cost 6
-performance 7
-heat 9

Okay but seriously... for me:

- Cost: I'm willing to spend up to $600 if it's the current performance champ and it is a substantial upgrade over what I currently had. I had went from a GTX295 (hate the compromises that come with a multi-gpu's) to a 5870. I also sold the 295 for $400 so it basically cost me $100 to go to a 5870 including taxes + shipping. Before this I went from 8800GTS 640 to the 295. Was a huge, huge upgrade and well worth the $600 I paid for it.

- Performance: See above. As long as the performance increase justifys the cost increase. For example, a 5850 ($300) is 2x a 5770 ($150). The cost increase justifys the performance increase.

- Heat: Heat is a huge issue for me. During the summer my room gets really hot so at this time I run all my hardware at stock. I have a problem when a card raises my room temperature a few degrees, so I only enjoy overclocking in the Winter. I do have an AC, but I think it's retarded to have to run a 1000w AC to cool the excess heat created by my pc. That's just a waste of money to me IMO.

- Noise: My case has sound deadening foam so noise isn't much of a problem for me. I also game with headphones on so as long as I can't hear the fan noise I'm cool. But the thing better be dead silent at idle though.

So cost is important, performance is clearly important (don't want a POS), don't want a fire, and noise isn't that big of an issue since I have 6 88CFM fans outside of my computer.

As long as it doesn't cook and can handle itself I don't care how hot it gets, as long as there are no long term affects 200℃is fine. Also at that tempreture I can have Cocoa/Coffee/Tea with a water cooling system (my current one only gets to around 40 so I suck. I could have a phase change/Peltier for cold beverages too!) Noise isnt an issue because my current kettle is already loud, and I have -30dB headphones. But I don't want overpriced, I'm never going to buy a shitty crApple, performance/price is important. If its high performance and high cost, thats fine, but there there is a curve! Still I wont pay lots more for OC stupid things that I can do myself.

Noise isn't too terrible while gaming... idle should be really quiet though.

I hate heat... if I start sweating because my room went up 10 degrees due to gaming, I get really annoyed. Heat isn't really about whether or not the card is overheating (if it's overheating then it's not a working product IMO), it's about how much heat it dissipates into the room.

Performance will always be most important... but performance and cost sort of go hand in hand, with performance edging out cost. Obviously pay more for a faster product, but there's a sweet spot for everyone.
