Okay to start things off I have to say that i'm not a hardware god, I know next to nothing as what is the latest and greatest. So please don't flame lol well only a little.

Up until about 3 hours ago i was running the 350w psu that came with my POS case My hardware config is as follows:

AMD Athlon 2200+
Syntax S746FX socket A mobo
512mb pc3200 DDR kingston ram
40x cdburner LG
16x DVD rom
Seagate Barracude 120gb 8mb 7200rpm
dual purple Cold Cathodes
80mm exhust fan

so as of three hours ago i bought and put in a new 600w psu and for some reason i noticed a difference in performance. Now i say to myself this is strange i shouldn't get a performance boost but there it is. What i ask of my fellow geeks is this.. Why did i get this new vigor from?

A PSU wouldn't do more then keeping a consitant Voltage. I don't think a PSU could give you anymore of a performance boost then vynol graphics on a ricer hheh.

Placebo effect? Or do you have hard numbers to back it up?

i agree

person 1 "I have a headache."
person 2 "take this aspirin." aspirin = sugar pill

person 1 "wow thanks, i feel a lot better"
person 2"(((rolls eyes)))"

That is what i thought too. that i must be imagining it. and no i don't have numbers to back it up. but yeah my woman has noticed the menus and programs opening up quicker as well. could it be that maybe that my old psu didn't supply enough power to spin up my harddrive to full rpm? or is that not possible?

edit: oh and yeah she knows nothing about computers and i didn't tell her about the new psu or that i thought the shit was happening faster.

my new psu gained me performance.

The tighter voltage levels allowed me to overclock more :D

but no, without a change such as this, a psu should not improve performance by itself. Enjoy the wonderful side-effect!

how often do you reboot your machine? Was this the first time in months that you powered it down?

Did you plug in a power connector on the MB that wasn't plugged in before?

That would be my guess.

The voices in your head.

While this might be true, it isn't what they told me lately. No there isn't another mobo connector that i've connected, and i try to power cycle my computer once a day. But thanks to all ur help guys.
