Well, I got a 1GB DDR400 in my Athlon 64 2.0 GHz system. currently I have an X850XT 256mb. I run oblivion at 1600x1200 no where near maxed out, most sliders and near minimum and i get a lot of slowdowns during intense scenes, etc. My question is, how big of a performance boost am I looking at upgrading from the X850XT to a X1900XT 512MB?

Benchmarks
Well, that's a chart of almost all cards out there, and from what they have in their test setup you'll get approximately a double in framerates. But you would also benifit greatly from 2gb of ram and as a last resort a new processor. But as the bottom line, yeah i would get the graphics card if the reast of your system can handle the power draw from the x1900xt.

I realize this is porbably the wrong section and I don't want to start a flame war, but what about the 7900GTX 24 Pixels 512MB? How much better would that be?

Im running an X850pro AGP with a 2.8ghz INTEL processor and I run oblivion fine...with most setting turned all the way on and very little slowdowns. don't worry too much about a super-high res. Im running mine at 1280* . I mean my grass slider was all the way up with shadows and self shadows and the only time I had to turn some of those down was near the end of the game. I also have 2gb of memory though.

Yes, 2gb of memory makes a huge difference in most of the newer games, oblivion being one of them, because the slow downs you're seeing are because the computer has to access the hard drive instead of the memory for textures or whatever it needs, and on the 7900gtx, well i would personally get a x1900xt because is supports aa+hdr which is something you would benifit greatly from in oblivion.
