Currently I have a 4870x2 ati card in my system (2 core),. If I got another 4870x2 would there be any performance improvement in crysis and crysis warhead? Running a X48-DQ6 motherboard ddr2 1066 4GB memory.
would be Quad Crossfire X

Dare I ask what on earth would warrant a second 4870X2? Unless you're running @ 1920X1200 or higher and trying to run 8xAA...you should be fine (you don't need much AA at that res.)

More performance. Was hoping to improve the framerates in crysis even better than they are now. But I suppose it's not going to happen even with another 4870x2. 1600x1200 rez

At 1600x1200 it would be a huge waste of money.

I have CrossfireX with X2s.
Crysis sucks, even with two cards.
Warhead runs like butter, as does ClearSky and just about any other title you can think of; it's just Crysis that won't run worth shit.

I use 1920 X 1200. I like the choice so far. Things are generally better than my Triple-SLi 8800 GTXs were.....although the Triple could do Crysis better......go figure.

I was considering building a new box if reviews showed CF x2s scaling well enough.
The reviews didn't show enough improvement over a single x2 for me to justify the increased power useage two would use.

I'm considering building a new box based on the Nehalem with a single x2. :)

I can duplicate that data on "high", that is not that impressive.
I'm talking about all settings on "very high"..........which is what anybody would want with 1100 dollars of video cards, and it runs like shit, barely above 25 FPS.
You have a huge investment to run a game on high............my son's 680i with dual 8800 GTs can do that.
Crysis just isn't ATI friendly. But I'm not going back and playing it anytime soon, so it really is irrelevant. Warhead was a much better game.:D
I get 60-70 FPS in Warhead with all settings on "enthusiast" whatever the hell that means, which I think shows that Crytek dumbed down the graphics in Warhead to gain FPS; enabling more people to be able to play the game.

no point in a 2nd x2....especially @ 1600x1200...use that money toward a sweet 30" and start enjoying a jaw dropping gaming experience @ 2560x1600 ;)

I run it on very high easily with a 4850. Dont know how you cant run it on very high with a 4870x2, those are nice cards. Its DX9 so that might be why for me. I also heard there were problems with the 4870x2 and crysis so that might be it.

you can't run "very high" in dx9...only in dx10, unless you do the "dx10 hack" if you are using xp
