about a month after i got my 15" powerbook, i picked up the bluetooth mouse to go along with it. i love the mouse, but i hate the lack of no scroll wheel.

i was thinking, apple should make a mouse like this, but incorporate a touch scroll wheel, like the ipods have. you run your finger along a portion of the mouse, and it will scroll up/down and side/side.

i'm really suprised they wouldnt have already had one like this come out.

I got the same mouse you got when I got my iBook.

I'm gonna sound like such a Windoze user when I say this, but it also needs (in addition to a scroll wheel) a.............right-click. I hate having to hit Ctrl. It's so much quicker to right click.

I'm tempted to pick up a third-party Bluetooth mouse. Maybe the one by Kensington.

Oh well, we can dream...

originally the one button could be justified if youve ever helped a computer illeterate person over the phone....theres no "should i right or left click?" Simple solution is to just use a different brand bluetooth mouse.

If you have to ask "should I left or right click" then you shouldnt be allowed to use a computer. I dont know why apple hasnt came out with a 2 button mouse yet. Right click for commands is so much better.

It is my option that everyone should know the basics of at least how to use a computer. Everyone should have to take a test and have a licence before getting a computer. period. Just like a car. You cant just buy one and take it on the road, you will kill someone. Same applies with a computer. You shouldnt be able to just buy one and go.... I hate stupid people. And what sucks is i like apple products. My iBook is sweet. But I need 2 buttons to function quickly. I dont know why apple thinks everyone in the world is an idiot and cant grasp the concept of 2 buttons. One does one thing the other does someting else. You learn what does what quickly, just like a gas pedal and break. Trial and error. After your first time of doing it, you got it. Not to hard.

I've never felt the need to have a second button on my Mac, I guess it's because I only use windows when I'm forced to at work. I can use the shortcut commands to access anything as quickly as I need without the need for a right click. I guess maybe for some people it could be more productive, iono - I'd hate to see the day that apple releases a two button mouse tho.

I will agree with one thing, the scroll wheel does need to be implemented, it can be tedious with some webpages.

Just to chime in 3rd party mice, my coworker has the kensington mouse, and it is quite nice. He is very happy with how it preforms with his 12" powerbook, and the range on it is amazing.

I understand where you are coming from but making a computer license just seems odd, what's next? a license to have shoes? I get around fine with either one or two button mice on osx

If everyone had a good grasp on technology there would be no IT industry.

just wondering if youve always been an apple user or did you switch?

I don't care that they have a one-button mouse still, but they should at least offer a 2-5 button mouse with a scroll wheel. They do really intuitive things like two finger scrolling and put out programs like Final Cut Pro but think Mac users can't handle a 2 button mouse? At least give the option.

Why? Apple won't force you to buy it vs the 1-button mouse. What's wrong with having a choice? You can already buy 2-button mice on Apple's site anyway.

Why? Use of the scroll wheel is optional.

the one button mouse keeps programmers and GUI designers from hiding elements in "right click menus."

wonder why your GUI is so elegant? thank the one button mouse for that.

Yes... instead, they are hidden in "command-click" menus. :)

I use the logitech MX900 Bluetooth mouse for my power book. Its perfect, except for the fact there isn't a "off switch" to conserve the battery on road trips. But it works fantastically <-that even a word?lol)

Most proper Mac OS X applications never require a right click for anything. Contextual menues should be an extra shortcut, not the main path. Thank God for the one-button mouse, even if it does suck.
