i'm trying to get my pci-e perc4 to work with xp, but it's just not working. here's what i've tried, so far:

i'm upgrading from a perc3, so i just tried plugging the array in. i got a bsod/reboot. the reboot was too quick to read the bsod message.

tried to reinstall xp, but the drives aren't recognized.

flashed the bios with lsi bios. it updated, but is still reporting as a perc4. can't boot or reinstall.

initialized the array, and still can't reinstall.

any help would be greatly appreciated!
 
You'll need to get a driver disk for it from the manufacturer (Dell?) and press F6 when it mentions it, right at the beginning of setup. That will give it what it needs to recognize the drives or array.

 
i tried that using both lsi drivers and dell drivers with no luck. the drivers that dell provides are only for 2003. also, when i installed the drivers from each company, the xp install said that there were already drivers availble for the hardware which was the case for my perc3 which didn't need any drivers specified.

could i have something configured wrong? i can't imagine what it could be since it was so easy to configure in the perc3 bios which seems to have the same layout.
 
i'm running my setup on an asrock pcie/agp mobo...that couldn't be the problem, could it? a 16x pcie slot is what it is regardless of the board's intention, right?
