I have some Dell R610 servers with the PERC 6/i raid cards and i just added 2 Intel DC SD3700 SSD's but they cap out around 100MB's with a single drive and about 230MB/s in a raid 0, plan to use the SSDs as ESXi vFlash drives.

These drives can do 400MB+ on a single drive and the Perc 6/i should be able to do almost a 1Gig of throughput people have reported...

I have read over various threads and none seem to give a definitive answer. Some people say the Perc 6/i just arent good with SSD's while others claim to tweak things and then theywork right.

i have adjusted everything from write-back / read-ahead, setting different stripe sizes et cetera but the performance remains the same.

Tested under Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012 R2 U1 using HDTune, CrystalMark, HDTach, all give the same results...

Dell R610 but even then i can get over 200MB's with 2x intels ssd in raid 0, i think i hit 248MB/s so it is definitely a per port limitation or issue

The Dell cards are good but best left to HDD's. Use SSD's with AHCI SATA ports and enjoy them. If you somehow feel the need for HW RAID, time to dig deep and move to a much new card.
