Ok I have owned AMD's since the Athlon 1 came out. My prother-in-law just bought a P4 2.8 800FSB processor. He also purchased an ECS 848P-A. The HSF holddown mechanism that attaches to the motherboard is a piece of shit to say the least as when we go to attach the HSF that came with his P4 2 sides of the hold down come up. The little prongs that are supposed to go all the way through the motherboard won't go all the way through they are too short it turns out. With it being made of 100% plastic I would never trust it to hold down any HSF without it popping out and burning up my CPU.
Are there any better methods or HSF's that come with a replacement holddown that arent watercooling? He wants to stick with air cooling.
