I have a dell D610 which uses a Pentium M 750 Dothan @ 1.86ghz 2mb cache from what CPU-Z says. If, theoretically I were to rip this out and buy a s479 board, then put it in place of my 2.53B 512KB on an Asus P4P8X board and overclock it as far as possible on air, would I notice a difference in performance for everyday operations? I don't feel like getting into watercooling at this time. Any theoretical OC results are welcome or personal experiences with the Pentium M cpus. Motherboard recommendations for such an operation also welcome.

Well you probably don't need theory to see that your lappy most likely performs quite a bit better than your deskie. CPU vs CPU its hands down for the M. However, I'm not sure following thru with this endeavor would be such a great idea from a cost effective standpoint.

I agree, why ruin a perfectly fine laptop (assuming it doesn't have a borked motherboard) just to put it in a desktop?
