I got in on the acer deal from newegg and I have a few questions. I extracted a DVD from .rar files (about 4.5GB total size) and it took 12 minutes which is twic as long as ny desktop 2500+ will do. I have the acer plugged into the wall,installed the intel chipset drivers, nothing else running,and am sure its at 1.5ghz. Is it normal totake so lng or is something wrong?

It also may be your AntiVirus settings. I remember someone had the same problem before and it was traced to their AntiVirus program.
 
Make sure your power settings within the control panel are set to home office. If they aren't, even when your laptop is pluged in, it will still throtle the cpu.

You could also set this to always on. Check your system properties to make sure it is reporting at 1.5 GHz
