Is Intel's new Pentium D a true 64 bit proc or does it just support 64 bit applications?

What is a "true" 64-bit processor?

All in all it's more of a 32-bit processor with 64-bit tacked on top, but that doesn't mean it's not 64-bit.

And you have to be running a 64-bit OS to run 64-bit applications.

What exactly are you asking?
