I finshed building my first dual core intel system today.
Pentium D 820 No I know its not a C2D but I didn't have the money.
Specs:

Pentium D smithfield 2.80 820.
ASUS P5PE-VM 865 mobo
2 GIGS DDR 400 Dual Channel
7800 GS AGP VC
Plextor 8x DVD burner
250 Gihg WD SATA HD
WINXP Pro Sp2
I don't see two cores in speedfan. I can't run the multi core effiency test in sandra.
I only see one core in the intel ICE fighters demo. how can I tell if I have use of my dual cores.? Also don't see 2 graphs in task manager.

Nope scratch install, only thing is I had a problem with intel ucode error load in bios. I found a beta bios in ASUS ftp that fixed the error problem. I saw a hyperthreading option in the original bios but not in the beta. would that cause this? I don't believe that the pentium D supported hyper threading though.

found out fixed it. Plug and pray. I forced a hardware search and kching! the second core was found and installed.
