Anyone know if a a 2.8GHz Pentium D would be enough to power 2xGTX295 (4 GPU cores) in a system?

BTW, Kendrak, watch your back, I mow in your general direction.

it seems like it would be since with the newest drivers i have been seeing between 0 and 3% usage with 4 cores running on my main folding box.

Should be fine, go for it.

I have an old Celeron (320 I think) powering 2 GPUs. A Pentium D with 2 cores should do just fine.

It's been a long time since I got mowed, there is a time for everything.

BTW, can you let me know if you can keep those cards in SLI?

I'd like to get one for the main rig if they can.

Yeah, I agree with the previous folders brother lassiterb :D I was messing around and folding with a C2D 6420 and a eVGA 8800GS temporarily (I'm reaching my budget max on light bills :() I didn't see any pernt loss against using the same card with one of my Q6600's. In my personal experience with the latest drivers (Vista 32 bit in my case because I was running the Win 7 beta OS) you don't see much more than 3% CPU usage (very rarely it goes to 5%, maybe more with the latest bigger WU's )

Please post your results, I think any modern day CPU is capable of using the GPU2 client and a CUDA capable card. I think the GPU does all the "heavy lifting" (of course I could be mistaken)

DCing for the CURE

Will let you know, the first one arrives tomorrow and will hopefully be getting the other one within the next two weeks.

Just make sure you use the most recent drivers!

Heck, I'm GPU folding on a 560j, single core with HT. I'm sure you will be fine
