Which would be a better upgrade for me a Pentium D 960 or a Core 2 Duo E6600? Considering I buy a new mobo and memory.

are you kidding?!

e6600 would be SO MUCH FASTER, in EVERYTHING!! no if, ands or butts about it.

and if you were to overclock them both. the 960 might hit 4.0++Ghz, but pump out some serious heat. The e6600 will probably hit 3.2Ghz+++ and run considerably cooler.

I've had both a Pentium D at 4Ghz and a Core 2 at 3.2Ghz, and the Core 2 is over twice as fast at pure CPU stuff, like SuperPI, and generally about 50% faster at everything else. (ie: gaming, etc)

^^^ i agree

i had a Pent D 920 2.8 .. and now running E4300 1.8.

even at stock speeds, the E4300 is faster.
