pentium D 930 at 28C ?

i just installed my new pentium D 930 and the temp shownig in my cpu monitor is 28C(not quiet idle but not runnig much) can this be right?
its not overclocked (yet) and im using an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro heatsink and fan.

also should i disable hyper threading?

Leave Hyper Threading on, it will give you some added performance. If the ambient temprature is higher than 28c, then your sensor maybe bad, but if it is lower you got a cool runing chip. If you have an external temprature probe that would be the best way to check the temprature, as sometimes sensors can be off by alot.
 
well im not to sure what the ambient temp os in my room right now but the system temp is showing at 35c.
my previous cpu was on this motherboard and ran at 48C (it was a pentium 4 lga775 3.2 ghz)
im using the same heatsink/fan i did with the P4.
 
Do you happen to have the sSpec for the CPU? It's a 5 character code starting with "SL". If it was a retail CPU, it's the last 5 characters of the PROD CODE printed on a sticker on the box.

I'm wondering if you got a certain stepping.

ok something else,had a couple of crashes now in a few hours.not overclocked.
once with pcmark and now again when quiting a game "America's army" i used the highest settings i coul in AA at 1024x768
video card is also new its a geforce 7600gt 256 mb ram
 
Ah, just a B1 stepping. I'm wondering if all the C1 steppings are going into OEM systems. :confused:
