This is my suspicious as well. Sometimes it's not enough to look at past history for find a naming scheme, you need to look at the trend. And now the trend it's try to eliminate numbers in brand of products as much as possibile using a name that ends with two caps letters, such:

MX
XP
XT
XE
EE
FX
Ti
and many MANY more.

Just think how many times the XP and MX was used in the industry :)

However Pentium 5 with CT could be a possibility again, Intel don't need a true new architecture to scale the brand name (Pentium 2 vs Pentium III, or !!!).
just my 2 cents.
 
Intel usually has a reson to put a letter or number beside the name, they dont do it just for the hell of it...


Pentium,
Pro = Professional? I know it was meant for workstations/servers..
2 = 2nd gen pentium
3 = 3rd gen
4 = 4th gen
M = mobile
EE = Extreme Edition
xeon = ?? must be a meaning behind the name

pentium III wasn't a generation ahead over p2, just marketing stuff.

the reason why -IMHO- there could be a name change have not much to do with the techlology behind a new product.
the pentium4 brand is here since november 2000 and they need a new name and a new chip to compete with AMD64.

They change the name obviously to generate more sales...

But they don't change the name for zero reason.. there is always some kind of change. A few minor changes to the core from P2-P3 included SSE.

I still like "Intel Sidewinder" better. Maybe even names that mean 'security', like "Vanguard" or "Defender", would be nicer than a rehash of Pentium, too. (i.e. "Intel Defender" 4.5GHz...) Creative words like "Synteno", "Peregrino", "Leptrino", "Inspirion", etc. - and so forth, but lead by the name Intel (i.e. "Intel Inspirion") also make decent names.
 
I am glad they dont leave the naming of the next chip up to the members of [H]....

Is it one of the original series uniforms?? those are the worst, the next generation uniforms were not as bad... but still ULTRA nerdy!

PS, the federation would have Intel's Klingons would have AMD in there ships since they are cheaper. Hell they cant even hide the giant hydraulics in there bridge..
 
Yes I own 4 star trek uniforms, and I happened to be wearing the Original Movies Uniform ( the red with the velcro vest flap) I spent about 260$ on it too,its real nice tho :p

Got a little over 30 carvings in my bedboard (really names in my blackbook) here. And I'm married.

I have a portfolio of the chicks I've banged... I've been thinking about creating an online version of it since I have pics of quite a few.

Ok enough bragging..... they didnt call my apartment "The Sin Bin" for nothing I guess.
