hey today i was replacing my cdrw drive and i booted up fine and went to the bios to see some stuff and i went to the cpu temp, the cpu temp was in 125*F, WTF, I JUST REPLACED MY FUCKING CDRW DRIVE. ok i take the hs off, and clean the dust on the hs, and put fresh thermal paste. (i also cleaned it). now its good, but its in around the 90s*F, it used to be around 83*F, wtf, i didnt do shit, i dont want to fucking replace my cpu or mobo, btw i have 1.6 p4.

could have move the hs out of its place and messed up the thermal contact.

reapply the thermal grease

That's actually more like 52*C. Seeing that you've already reseated and temps are down, you don't need to mess with the CPU portion any more. I think it's probably less airflow or the drive is heating up your case more than usual. I guess it could be putting more load on your power supply too. I'd double check any cables in the way of airflow, and possibly reseat and make sure to apply the thermal compound in a thin layer.

83 to 90 isn't a big change. Maybe the CD drive is running warmer, the room temp is up, who knows.

Chill out though.

No, Bodega's right. 90 F is 32.2 C.

Remember, the conversion formula is (5/9)(F - 32)

And 32.2 is hardly anything to worry about. Stop freaking out. Mine runs at 36 - 38 idle if that makes you feel any better (unless you use an Asus, those are notorious for calculating really low CPU temps).

yea, i had an asus mobo that when u boot up, it says that the CPU temp would be around 9C and case would be around 15C
after about an hr of usage it would goto 30C CPU and 25C case
weird

watch your profanity.... theres probably kids looking at your post now

yea, your temps now are ok

mine runs at about 45 idle. it's high, higher than I'd like it, but not dangerous or anything.
