hiya [H]!

lil help please! so before i start, heres my rig:

| MSI 790GX-G65
| AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
| 2x 4GB G.Skill DDR3 ripjaws 1600 sets
| 2x XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB
| Kingston V 128GB SSD OS drive
| 4x Caviar Black 640GB Raid10; program files/page file/storage
| EVGA USB 3.0 PCI-e card
| Lian Li K62
| Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
| Cooler Master M600
| No Optical drives (yet, until i find a cheap sata card for the dvdrw)

so [H], here where i need suggestions...

should i be okay with this Cooler Master M600? or will i need to upgrade my psu? i haven't really come across problems but i know if psu's go, it can take a lot of other things with it...

when i built this rig, i had only 2 caviars and a single 5770. since then i've added a second card, gotten my first ssd and added 2 more caviar blacks for raid. i do want to add my dvdrw drive back once i find a sata controller card for cheap...my mobo only has 5 sata ports.

if you do think i need a new psu, have any suggestions? i would like xfire certified and modular and one that'll fit nicely in the K62...

also, with this rig i play a lotta shooter games, primarily bfbc2 right now. for those who think it really matters what kind of power im looking for, along with sc2, heres my steam list: http://steamcommunity.com/id/badcookies/games?tab=all
 
No way is that number correct. The X4 has like a 125ww TDP, and the 5770 is a single 6-pin PCIe so that is 150w or less. That's like 425w, so throw in drives and 600w is probably right on the money. 680 seems too high. There's a good PSU calculator, but I don't have the link to it.\
edit: http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp gives 363w

You should be good. That PSU doesn't have a whole lot of power available on its +12V rail for a 600W PSU, but it's enough for your PC since you'll never be in a situation where all of your components are running at maximum load simultaneously.
 
heh, newegg's calculator is kinda limited in options. thanks for the link to the more detailed calculator. heres what it gave me.

so for now i should be okay...but what about a bit of future proofing? or peace of mind? i really cant risk losing data (as i have 4 drives in raid 10 as opposed to the more spacious raid 5)
 
It's very unlikely that any damage will occur if you overload the PSU slightly. The worst that will happen is that the PSU will simply shut off, and that should not harm your data at all. However, if you can afford to upgrade to a higher-capacity PSU and are willing to do so, it wouldn't be a bad idea.
