Peltier without watercooling?

I was thinking of using a peltier element with heat sinks on both sides in place of the 120 mm fan on my qpack. I'd seal the case up pretty good and use the peltier to lower the ambient case temperature, letting the built in fans and heatsinks on my components get the job done. I'd stick a fan somewhere near the cold-side heat sink to blow air past it. Is this a good idea or just plain ignorant? :p

ughh, I'm sorry, that just seems like a horrible idea....

Honestly, just cute a hole in the side of the case and strap a 120mm fan on it... a pelt for ambient case cooling? No way man, not worth it at all, not for the power it takes, not for the potential problems...

Any pelt that is any kind of useful needs water, I learned this the hard way.....

Actually no. Condensation would be the last of your worries, since the entire case would be cold, not just certain areas. Condensation occurs between temperature differentials, specifically, warm air becoming cooled. Unfortunately this peltier will do one of two things. Either it will not have enough power to affect the ambient temperature of the case, or it will have enough power to do so, but any fan that you have 'blowing across the other side' will be unable to disippate the heat buildup and the peltier will fry. The only thing you could do is have some kind of serious heatsink+fan on the other side. This MAY get you the desired result, but I'm not really thinking too deeply into it so there may be something I'm missing.

I don't think condensation will happen just from being a few degrees colder than outside. Whether a peltier can both cause that cooling inside the case without melting on the outside, is a question for someone with more peltier experience.

Condensation wouldnt be a problem, but the idea wont do anything for ambient temps unless you use a 300w+ peltier.
