I got a peltier at Fry's 'cause I saw it there and it was calling me to buy it. $20.Its a 30 watt one, 40mmx40mmx4.7mm

I'm going to get a 120mm radiator http://www.xoxide.com/120mmradiator.html

Some random pump, and tubing, block etc etc....the rad is going to be mounted on the rear case fan [120mm], I know this will create warmer temps in the water but i'm not looking for mega-super-omg-wtf overclocking, I just need to make it quiet and cool. The problem I have is how am I going to get the peltier element between the block and the CPU? Its an extra 4.7mm between the block and the CPU - are there special blocks that are made to accomidate the peltiers? Do I need to modify my block? Can I just slip the peltier in there and make the mounting brackets looser?

Thanks for your comentes!

Pick a pelt that has 2 or 3 time more cooling capacity that what you are trying to cool. Unless you have a 15 watt CPU, a 30 W pelt will do nothing for you.

Yes, there are waterblocks designed for pelts and you do have to have one. Look at the Maze4 and MCW5002.

Thanks I didn't know that. i guess i'm going to be sticking to straight watercooling then, no pelts.

Yeah, if you put that 30 watt pelt on your CPU, it will blow up... like, in an instant. If the peltier can't remove the amount of heat you put into it, it will start to act as an insulator, and insulate the heat into your processor. Bad news.

So, most of the big block companies make pelt versions of their blocks (danger den, swifty, dtek, etc.) that you can purchase with a cold plate to go in between. My recommendation for a CPU would be 226 watt pelt, and 180 watts at absolute minimum. You're living dangerously if you go any lower than that...

Danger Den sells everything you would need: all kinds of pelts and a dedicated power supply as well. And blocks, obviously.
