I bought the PA 120 on a sale a long time ago. Still running my old x570, 63gig 3600, 5900X. I don't OC, my stock cooler runs fine, temps great, is there any reason to take it out of the box after all this time or should I just trade it for some other parts?

It’s not worth much after shipping unless you mean a local trade.
Any amount of lower temps equal longer boost clocks. I’d say slap it on there. They are very easy to install I have several variants around the house on various machines.
As someone pointed out the 5900x did not come with a stock cooler. This cooler is better than any stock cooler AMD has ever provided that I’m aware of.
You think it is still worth saving? I am upgrading next year.
I mean as far as dual tower air coolers go, its the go to suggestion pretty much always these days. You can't beat the performance for $35 and even where you can beat it, its by so little it doesn't matter and you paid 3x as much.

If you are in a position to trade it, then it kind of depends on what you can trade it for...
Otherwise just use it.
AM4 and AM5 coolers are compatible so you could keep using it if you upgraded to AM5 in the future.
Maybe for the people who like to recommend old products because they aren't keeping up with new releases.
The Peerless Assassin 120 has been eclipsed by newer models, particularly the Phantom Spirit 120 which is a direct upgrade in every way for only a couple dollars more. You get an extra heatpipe and better fans.
Otherwise just use it.

Yes, we're all aware but the OP doesn't have that in hand and if you step away from charts for a moment the effective real world difference is inconsequential. It would make zero sense to not use the cooler they have in their hands and buy a new one that does, again, effectively the same thing.

I literally told the OP that he should use it unless he can trade it for something good. The 2nd part of my post was a response to the part of your post that I quoted, and everything I said was true.
Your case does have a side panel on the same side as the back of the MB? Usually there is a cutout in the MB tray as well to access the back as well. Shouldn't need to pull MC out of case to change cooler. Unless of course you're talking ITX and such.
