This may just be my ignorance on this subject showing, but how practical/possible would it be to use a PDA for the following functions:
- textprocessing/programming (C/C++, Java)
- viewing PDFs, etc.
Naturally an external keyboard (mouse?) would be used.
Main issues I see are due to the limited screensize (around 320x320 pixels) and lack of resources (relatively slow CPU, limited RAM).
Laptops are definitely not a bad choice seeing how they are by far the cheapest when it comes to performance/$, but for some situations they're less than ideal, such as when they're only used intermittently, for like half an hour at a time during an entire day. Constantly putting the laptop in standby to save the battery from running low is far from ideal, and laptops are still more fragile than a PDA.
Any thoughts?
