Having released the 1000W PSU with only the 510W being the next one down shouldnt PCP&C be releasing something in the middle? Iam thinking that the 510-SLI wont be able to handle the next wave of Nvidia cards no matter how good it is. Assuming the G80 or whatever they decide to call it chews through 125W-150W each togethor with dual core CPU's and Raptor II drives the 510W is looking abit low.

Id get the 1000W model but only to power a DUAL CPU DUAL CORE Opteron system with SCSI drives, SLI'ed QUADRO's etc... but for a gaming machine its total overkill.

There is the 850w http://www.pcpowercooling.com/products/viewproduct.php?show=T85SSI

The 1000W is replacing the 850W for the same money, I want something in between say for around $300-$350.

Zippy has you covered:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103714

These units are every bit as reputable as PC P&C. Not too many of them floating around the enthusiast market yet, but the folks I know who have one love it. I hear these can be found cheaper than Newegg, but not sure where.

That said, I doubt anything coming out anytime soon is going to be a threat to the 510.

Iam gona be using SLI plus Iam in the UK which newegg dont ship too....

zippy? are these the guys that do the 1000W,1300W+ etc...PSU's?, ive heard of them many times.

Yep, that's them.

Try contacting Zippy here and see if they'll tell you where to find them in the UK:

I know these can be bought at various places in Europe, so there should be resellers in the UK too.

Edit - this may help you too:

The 1000 is replacing the 850?

I thought the 1000 was BASED on the 850 using more efficient MOSFET's, but I didn't know it was REPLACING it. :(

That is what I thought as well. I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. "So you aren't supposed to let go of the spoon.....well we better move then eh?"

I also herd they are making a 1k watt version where its verticaly built and installed in machines.....not on the top of a rig going horrizantal sp*

The PCP&C 510W SLI has no problem handling 7800GTX's in SLI, and the newer cards are going to be based on 90nm architecture which means they actually consume less power and put out less heat.

Assuming the process works right.......... ;)

At least that's what ATI and Nvidia are saying and thats the way it worked when AMD made the switch from 130nm to 90nm

the pcp&c 510 will handle anything next gen easily. Dont forget they are warrantied to run a dual cpu, SLI system with up to 11 hard drives ;)

If what I heard is correct. PCP&C's 850W/1000W are made by Zippy

Win-Tact actually... PC P&C is the only place one can get them that I know of. Zippy is a rumored past supplier to PC P&C, but I was never able to find solid evidence of it. They can be considered one of PC P&C's primary competitors for high end server units.

The other rumor going around is that the 510w is of Etasis origin - still waiting to find something out on that one too.

That sounds cool. Where'd you hear about that?

PCP&C not enough? Humm, likely not. Please, remember that PCP&C are the very best PSU you can buy. What is the percentage of people with computers that owns such a beast? Yeah, not very much. Because of this, nVidia and the likes have to deal with this and design video card that will run on most setup. Also, despite the 7800GTX being more powerfull than the 6800U, it draws less power. I understand that when you want to keep up and make sure your PSU will be able to run all your stuff but I doubt newer video card will put a 510 SLI to its knees.

agreed
remember it 510 watts at 50C (122F)
and a whopping 34A 12V (408 Watts with 456W peak @ 38A @ 50C)

that doesnt mean you couldnt just keep adding drives till you exceed its capability, but thats not the description of a typical gaming rig

there is no need for a 700>750
if your building a monster workstation (dual dual core, multiple GPU, massive RAID) youd get the SSI850 with true split plane 4 x +12V rails

Unless they go with SLI-4, that is 4X video cards, I think we have reached a plateau in graphics power demand,
however the quad-core CPU's are comming!

put it this way, the maximum number of drives would be around 4-6 thats including 2 raptors and 4 high capacity drives (seagate is my preffered choice). I guess the 510-SLI it is then.

The PC P&C 510 Express/SLI is an excellent choice. ;)

that 80mm fan is definetly gona go, iam going to use a fan adapter to fit one of my panaflo 120mm high-speed. Anyone have an idea as to how much power that triple blade delta fan uses, hopefully I can still connect it to the same header in he PSU.
