My 510 Deluxe has developed a "burning" smell..... This is concerning me.
The PSU is about 8 months old, so I would assume that if it was gonna smell, it would have done it new, and be gone by now....

Might be time to RMA this puppy..

Any comments?

I GOT THAT TOO!!!

Mine developed that burning smell too... within the next 3 days it was fried. WORST money I ever spent. I had mine for about 6 or 7 months so consider yourself lucky that you got an extra month.

RMAing is probably a good idea, I was just so infuriated when it happend (because the PSu cost so much to begin with, and it was suppose to be one of the best) that I didn't even think about it.... Do you have a link to their RMA department?

peace,

Im gonna call em on the phone now.
I just looked in the back, and I can see one of those magnet things with the wire wrapped around it is all discolored LIKE ITS BEEN HOT!!!!!!

This thing is definatly fubared....

Call their tech support and I'm sure they'll ship you out a new one ASAP. I inquired about hearing about some of their 510s burning up and their tech support said that it was no longer an issue. Hopefully it isn't--I just ordered a 510 SLI from Frozencpu.com. Apparently a while ago they had a bad batch of toroidal transformers (inductor, whatever its called).

Is this what's burning hot:

Wow scary stuff. This is definatly an manufactuing defect. Maybe ever check to see if there has been a recall on them. That could cause a house fire. YIKES!

hate to hear about this after ordering a brand new 510 PCI-E
however, it appears the problem has been addressed and I'm getting one of the newer units so hopefully I won't have problems
also, it looks as though they are very good about the RMA process should you have a bad unit

Same thing happened to me a few months ago, the little coil thing all black and crap... Next day air though

This one has a happy ending :)
I got my new PSU and all is well.
I even got one with 4 SATA connectors, my old one only had 2

PCP&C were nothing but helpfull and profesional the whole way thru.
They have earned my business for life!!
They sent my new one next day air as promised..( even though FedEx fubared that deal)
