So now that PC Power & Cooling said it doesn't void my warranty if i replace the fan myself i am going to go ahead and replace the fan in my power supply.

I need to know what would be a good replacement for a

Delta EFB0812EH (specs to follow)

*Fan Speed 5000RPM
*Volumetric Airflow 52.02 CFM
*Acoustic Noise 42.5 dBA

I would like a much quieter fan with similar, or hopefully better specs. It needs to be pretty close to silent, but a small noise is fine. I have on hand an Antec 80mm Blue LED fan. The specs of this fan are

* Fan Speed 2,600 rpm (avg.)
* Volumetric Airflow 34 CFM
* Acoustic Noise 30 dBA (at average rpm)

I dont think this fan will be able to handle the kind of heat that the PC Power & Cooling 510watt Deluxe SLI.

I dont want to spend arm and leg for a "high end" fan. I am willing to spend around $40 if it is the best i can get for silence and the about of Volumetic Airflow i need (52.02 CFM) or about that much, and it needs to be 80mm because it would need to fit inside the power supply.

Thank you in Advance for your Advice.

there was a guy in the case mod section that wanted to change the fan in his 510 and he contacted PC and they said that you needed a fan that would move the same amount of air to properly cool the PSU and if you dont cool it well you will get stability issues..

long story short he kept the stock fans...

it was crazy he chopped all the wires off the PSU the day he got it, opened it up and re wired the whole thing to his custom lengths and sleeved it all.... it was really amazing to watch

Does anyone think that making some kind of air duct to change the current "hole" for the fan into a 120mm?

Would that make any sence or would it work at all?

Also, i tried to search for that thread you were talking about, i had no luck. Do you remember the name or the user who did it?

Thank you

You can change the size of a fan hole from 80 to 120mm as long as you're pulling air THROUGH said hole. You can't push it.

Search for a 120 to 80mm fan adapter. I believe xoxide.com has some.

I checked xoxide, they have one but it is discontinued. I will do more searching. And if all else fails. I could do it the [H]ard way and make one myself.

EDIT: I found one at frozenCPU, thank you for the advice. I think i will try making one myself and then i will order from frozen if all else fails.

just get a panaflo L1A, or L1BX 80mm fan. then yo ujsut gotta figure out how you are gonna power those fans. but since you might be going for silence, then hooking them to a fan controller makes sense anyway. have fun.

Niether of those fans deliver even half of the CFM i need to keep this power supply cool. It needs to move at least 50CFM. There are stability problems if i go any lower (says PCP&C, and why not trust them? they make the best PC Power supplies in the world.)

I will get pictures once i am done and show the work i have already done on the "funnel design"
