PCP&C 1kW SR Mod?

I was curious as to whether anyone had tried modding the PCP&C 1kW SR by mounting the fan on the outside rather than the inside. Seems like this would essentially put the needed space before the input to the fan, allowing for less turbulence. Basically applying the same design to the 1kW that they did with their Silencer 750 to make it as quiet as it is.
 
The Silencer uses a different fan so just moving the fan outside the PSU won't be the cure. It might help but those 3 blade Deltas are loud no matter what.
 
So then maybe swap out the fan with a diff. one and/or mount it on the outside.
 
You could but I'd think long and hard about voiding the warranty on a $500+ PSU.

I would not dig into a $500 dollar PSU and void the warr. That just asks for something to go wrong...At least with my luck it would....
