that would be interesting seeing these vid cards are getting bigger and bigger each day, most all high end video cards now a days take up two slots anyway (and the NV40 needs two power connectors) and all cost a fortune so why not?

what do you guys think?

well, someone would need to make a mobo that had two pci-e x16 slots, I don't think that the demand would be enough.

You don't have to have to slots to have use SLI.
You can do it all on one card... Voodoo5 5500 and the voodoo5 6000 both did this.

and we seen how good those cards were too.

2 doesnt always mean better.

But it could...

I doubt you will see this. However it is possible, so who knows.

Yes, it will be a lot easier to do multi-chip support with PCIE.

I don't think it will be used so much for interlacing into one monitor as much as true left-eye right-eye imaging (no nerdy and headache inducing shutter glasses needed) One complete viewscreen running at full resolution and refresh projected into each eye... The immediate future looks interesting.

do you mean like on one of those two/three screen "3D" monitors?

Do any of the upcoming chipsets support dual 16x PCI express? I know I would use the second slot if they implimented it. Also I would imagine that any highend Raid controller probably be a 16x card as well. 3 or 4 monitor support would be nice..

It did on the voodoo 2 cards but that was using two seperate cards, not just two or more chips on the same card like on the v5 and v6.

yeah, if they do do something like that they better make a lot of space between both slots instead of wasting a slot

also, ppl i was talking about Voodoo2 SLI not the multi-chip "SLI" of the later voodoos
