PCIe slot questions and Ceton card....

Ok, probably a dumb question....but here I go anyway.

I am redoing a htpc (actually a DVR, not so much anything else) but am looking for motherboards and several do not have the smaller pci-e x1 slots that the Ceton needs.

However, the Ceton site says any pci-e slot will work (x1, x4, x8, x16). Before I buy a mobo....the pci-e slot that I would usually put a video card in will still work.....right?

PCI-E is PCI-E, a 1x card will work in a 16x slot just fine.

Which damn near all of them do now. That's not a problem nowadays.
