Pci vid cards

wondering how the PCI versions of Geforce fx cards compare to the AGP versions.

Assuming you're talking about the older PCI bus and not new PCI-Express cards...

The cards are essentially the same, but the PCI bus is a limiting factor. I'd only consider a PCI video card if you need to run a secondary monitor and you still intend to use an AGP card for your primary display. Even then, it's not typically the best way to go. Getting a dual-head AGP card is a much better solution for that scenario.

What kind of system are you considering this for? What's the use-case?

0-20% slower if you mean PCI classic.

Virtually the same speed if you meant the PCX5300, PCX5750 and PCX5900 PCI-E cards.

Pci 5200 is the best pci card out last time I checked. It's priced as such too. Next to that is the pci 8500/9100 series.

There are 5700LE cards in PCI now. Most of the 9100 PCI cards dried up, all that's left now are cheesy sapphire 64-bit cards.

Bang for the buck, the 5200 is still good in the PCI category. Just watch out for the 64-bit memory versions.

Thanks... A freind of mine wanted me to upgrade his computer for him, and he had a 5500 pci so I wanted to know how it would stack up against an AGP 5500. getting him a 5700le
