Are the current PCI-Express cards out simply "fast" AGP cards adapted to work on PCI Express? (like SATA was originally, with harddrives and controllers simply being "adapted" to work as SATA) Or have the card been created natively with PCI-Express?

ATI have a few native PCI -Express cards, where as nVidia use a onboard adapter chip.

I think the nVidia 6600 series is nativley PCI - Express though.

Oh and alot of the current PCI - Express cards are not fast, they suck X300, X600 and 5700, compared t current gen atleast.

Still have not seen a retail 6800 PCI - Express anywhere

all ATI PCI-E cards are native PCI-E

The 6800 series from NVIDIA use an HSI bridge chip to bridge from AGP8X to basically AGP16X with a PCI-E connector

The 6600 series are all native PCI-E from NVIDIA
