I want to build an Atom/ION based HTPC that will also act as a sort of NAS allowing me to share my audio and video files with all the other computers on my home network. This board looks like it will fill the part nicely: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813500036

However it only has 3 SATA ports. As my media collection grows I would like to be able to put more than 3 hard drives in it. It has a PCI Express x16 slot and some of the reviewers on Newegg have stated that you can put a PCI Express x1, x4, x8 or x16 in this slot. Is this ture? Would I be able to put a card like this one in that slot? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816124027

Yup, I have a raid card in my second PCI-E slot, works fine.

As a side note that doesn't apply in this instance but is good to know, some SLI boards don't play nice with non-gfx cards in particular slots. I've come across it before and normally takes some swapping around before they work.

I have an Asus A8N SLI Deluxe with a pci-e RAID card in the second x16 slot with a 8600GT in the first 16x slot. The board can do SLI and seems to have no issue with the setup.
