Hey,

Im looking to upgrade my pc to the new asus sli board with pci express when its available. However, I can't afford too expensive of a videocard right now. Im running a 9800pro 128mb at 420/378. But since the mobo has no apg slot, ill need to replace it with something somewhat cheap before i can save up for the dual sli setup i want.

Does anyone know how the 6600 stacks up against a 9800pro? Also, any other reccomendations. Im not looking for anything faster, but I'd like the same performance or better so i dont downgrade, but as long as it would provide similar or just slightly better performance it would be good for now. thanks

6600 GT beats the 9800 in pretty much all the benchies, and the x700 is ATi's replacement i guess of the 9800 in PCIe form

Do some research on the x800 SE. My friend's PCI-E computer utilizes that card and he says its good.

I would get the 6600GT if you can swing it. I bet you wount have any trouble moving a 6600GT PCI-e card on the FST forum a few months down the road

yes i do plan on using SLI in about 4 months or so when i can afford 2 top of the line cards. I think id rather go back to nvidia for this round, so that rules out ATI cards

The 6600GT is looking attractive from my research, are there any 256mb models out there?

Im thinking if the 256mb model exists, i just might SLI two of those and they should be plenty fast for a while. hmm.. while it wouldnt be as fast as what i planned for.. would definately be nice.
