So I'm pretty set on a 6800GT, but my new PC is PCI Express, and I can't find a single manufacturer making a 6800GT PCIe card. Are there any out there? And are there any 6800GTs that already have SLI, or is that still coming?

Yeah Im wondering, what motherboard did you get and where did you order it? :D

He probably has only 1 PCIe slot, and plans to change to a new mobo soon as one comes out with 2 slots.

I bet if you get ahold of one of those cards Alienware is using for their ALX, an AGP, and PCI-E versions of a certain graphics card... you could make a mighty nice machine out of that mobo.

Well i've saved up my 5k and am just waiting for the pci-x gf cards to come out......or should i just buy a normal 6800ultra agp now?
arrrrrghhhh!

I'm actually building the machine myself. So I didn't get it from Alienware or Falcon Northwest or anything of the sort. As far as the the mobo goes I'm waiting for a mobo that supports dual PCIe x16 slots and a 1066 MHz FSB (So I'll probably buy a board before this becomes a reality, but I can dream) before I put the machine together. I'm gathering the parts right now (P4 3.6 GHz LGA-775, 1 GB DDR2, 250 GB Matrox SATA HDD, Audigy2 ZS, and Video Card yet to be determined)

1. Nice system, but...
2. WTF would you want a LGA775 board with a prescott? Athlon64 are cheaper and faster.
3. Needs moar HD's.
4. You're gonna be waiting several months at least... And $$$$$$$$$

PCI-X != PCI-E.

You will never see a consumer PCI-X video card.

1066 fsb boards and stuff wont be out till next year, and you might as well wait till LGA-775 dothan chips, which run cooler and faster than p4's, and are also supposed to be wicked overclockers, they should be out at then end of the year.

did alienware and dell and falcon companies get all these new pci express vid cards before everybody else. because my system ships this thursday and its a dell xps gen 3. and it has a new x800xt pci express vid card. but the x800xt pci express isnt available to buy just by itself

Right on!!! And... Sorry to say but I suspect Intel users will be left in the cold on the PCI-E x16 dual slot config for a while at least, where as 939 AMD users should be good to go down the road for dual PCI-E x16 based on the fact that nVidia develops core logic for the A64 and they would be stupid not to provide a dual PCI-E x16 solution to pimp their vid cards and SLI. But of course this is speculation.

thanxs, ill post some benchmarks when i get it. ive been waiting like a month for them to ship it and build it. mainly because they had to probably wait for the new mobo and video card.

If you are waiting for a 1066 Mhz MB, why are you gathering parts already? By the time the new chipsets are out, there will be new processors, and prices on everything will have come down. (so you will have "new" old slower parts that have just sat around waiting for your MB)

Either just get what is available now (and use it) or save your pennies and get it all later. Getting parts now and having them sit seems silly to me.

2. I went with Intel because I get them at cost ;)
3. I have an 80 GB HDD that I'll be throwing in there too.
4. Everything but the mobo and video card is in hand.

And Lazn I will be getting a mobo without 1066 FSB, because like you I don't see the point in having the hardware and waiting for a mobo that may be 6 months down the line.

EDIT: Of course I still can't find a 6800GT PCI Express card.
