J/W is pci express for intel chipsets only, will they ever run with amd processors cause as im going through mobo's im noticing that none of the amd boards have pci-e. is pci-e an intel only thing for now, or will this change at some point
 
What are you talking about AMD mobos are the only mobos that have SLi at the moment. And the requires two PCI-E slots. Look harder go to www.newegg.com
 
Yes i was looking at that cause i found an uber cool 939 dfi board, but then i went to look for a proc to match that what was that $600 for the a64 4000+ :eek:
 
Do you have to go with a 4000+? You could pick up a 3000+ at newegg for $150. That DFI board is a killer OCer too. You could expect an overclock of anywhere between 2.4-2.7ghz. The winchesters are really variable when it comes to OC's.but at 2.4ghz you match the 4000+ so you can't really complain can you?

He's not talking about SLI. He's talking about PCI-E.

PCI-E is not Intel only as the SLI motherboards (nForce 4 sock 939 AMD) have 2 PCI-E slots.
 
Scan Line Interlace, is a method of having two cards do the work of one. Two Voodoo2 cards can be placed in your computer side-by-side and connected by a short computer cable. When this happens, one will process all the odd-numbered scan lines, and the other will process all the even-numbered scan lines, so performance goes up by about 50%, and the effective frame buffer is doubled. Texture memory, however, is duplicated in both cards.

This is not the same as nVidia's implementation. nVidia SLI (Scalable Link Interface) works a little differently in that it splits up the rendering either through splitting up each scene into two parts (one card does the upper part and the other does the bottom) (SFR) or each renders an alternate frame (AFR).
