I am going to upgrade to a 4930k and am trying to find a motherboard that has the most space between the PCI-E slots so that my top MSI 780 Lightning can get a bit more air. Also, what mainboards allow you to run the second card in any slot at x16??

I think the Sabertooth does. I was looking at one a while back. The bottom slot looks like It runs full 16x.

Edit, M/M, runs at 8x.

OK, ASUS P9X79-E WS will run all at 16x.

PCI Express 3.0 x16

4 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (dual x16, triple x16/8/8, quad x8, black+blue)
2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x4 mode, white)

The ASROCK boards have pretty decent PCI-e spacing.

I won't touch ASUS.. I don't care what the specs of their motherboards are. Their RMA dept is complete and utter trash as is the reliability of their boards.

It still makes me wonder who exactly designs most motherboards... the slot placement/spacing on most of them looks like they threw the parts that the board is going to include into an MMO random name generator and just selected the first thing that came out.

In other words.. most boards slot spacing is like having an in-game name of AFDKIHFAZPOOP732.

Yea, I had to RMA my board for the onboard sound crapping out. Came back in a few weeks g2g.

If you really want pcie spacing and have a case to accommodate it, go for an e-atx board or xl-atx board...whatever they are called.
