A friend of mine is giving me an SSD and a SATA card next month as a gift.
I currently have all 8 SATA ports used on my machine, so I don't have to remove another drive like I did a couple of months ago when I upgraded, he offered to get me a SATA card as well.

so here I am looking for recommendations for a SATA card that will be used to hook up my storage drives.
I just need a reliable one for around $50.

I recommend you put the SSD on the motherboard. Then, for a storage hard drive or two, the quality of the SATA card won't matter much. How many ports do you want ?

That is what I was planning on doing, putting the SATA on the Intel SATA 6 port (motherboard also has 2 Marvel SATA 6 ports).

4 internal ports should be enough.
