I'm not sure what section to post this question since it encompasses 2 sections of the forum so I picked General.

I received a ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z/GEN3 mobo and it currently has a GTX 680 in it. I also have a Adaptec RAID 2405 2260100-R that I'm wanting to use. The controller card is 8x PCI-E and I was wondering if I put it in will my first PCI-E 16x resort to 8x like if I was running dual GPU? I'm thinking yes but I am just not sure and searching for this has been a pain.

Thanks guys.

Yes, the first slot (the GPU's) will drop to 8x. However, you won't see any noticeable performance drop - even running in SLI mode doesn't saturate the 8x link, so a single GPU's not going to affect performance at all.

That's what I thought. I was thinking to hard. Thanks for the reply man.
