My girlfriend is building a new computer, and she listened to a guy at work, who recomended a AA8 Duramax and a 9800XT 256MB card. Unless he's seen a 9800XT in PCI-E format, it wont work. The problem is she already bought the AA8, so now I need to find her a good PCI-E card thats under or at $300. I'd like to wait for the X700 XT, 6600GT or a PCI-E 6800 vanilla, but I dont see those anywhere yet (newegg, ZZF, etc). Anyone know of a reliable street date for those cards? I will not buy a X600 when the X700 and/or 6600GT is just two weeks away.

Worth considering a x800se if you can find one.....they're around, but very hard to find. Ranks about 40% faster than a R9800xt and costs a shed load less. Mine scores just under 9000 on 3dmark2k3 and hammers my old 9800xt(I don't like to use 3dmark, but it's about the only comparative that everyone understands).
btw, early reports suggested that the x800se would have 8pipes and 128bit memory, however, it does in fact have the 256bit memory and hence the higher than expected results.......I got it in as part of my system(it was cheap) and expected to have to swap it out for a better model, but I'm more than surprised at how it performs and now expect to keep it for quite a while.
