PC won't recognize DVD drive or Daemon Tools

When I mount a movie (.iso or video_ts source) in Daemon Tools and try to play it in another app, such as WMP or VLC, those apps also crash to desktop. Daemon Tools stays running in the sidebar.

However when I use any non-Daemon Tools dependent programs to play DVDs, such as XBMC, the DVDs play perfectly.

I can view the contents of Daemon Tools' virtual drive just fine. All the video_ts files are there. It's just playing them that's the problem.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Daemon Tools but the problem persists.

I'm out of ideas. What should I try?
