To start this off, I recently received my 2nd set of replacement RAM (Corsair Dominator 2 x 2gb sticks) and when i installed them, it ran great...up until today.

I first started noticing RAM related errors (services randomly stopping and whatnot) so i proceeded to run Memtest which came back with some errors. I then proceeded to clean out the ram slots with computer duster and cleaned the contacts of the RAM which fixed the RAM errors, but now it won't POST or do anything with 4 gigs of RAM, One stick (2 gigs) will run just fine, but not both.

I've had this problem before and it just happened to start working again by turning the computer off and on numerous times but thats not doing the trick this time. I've tried clearing the CMOS and running everything back at factory defaults which didn't work. I'm going to update my BIOS when i get home but find that hard to believe that that could be the problem considering I have ran 4 gigs several times without any problems.

If anyone can think of a resolution to this problem, by all means your input would be much appreciated. If you need any system specs, they're in the sig.

End result of this is that one of the sticks ended up going bad and when i tried to boot up with just that stick in, it wouldnt even post. Third replacement set too =[

But i do have one question regarding RAM, how much of a performance difference is there in say running 4 gigs with 2x2 gig sticks running in dual channel or having one 2 gb stick in single channel and also having 2x1 gig sticks running in dual channel which gives you a total of 4 gigs as well.

Very little performance difference overall unless you lose CPU OC due to the memory controller load. The memory controller should run 3 modules in flex mode dual channel. I'd be concerned about a motherboard in which you had 3 different memory modules die.

I'm starting to get weary of this board too, is there any way to check to see if its the board causing these malfunctions?
