PC Won't Boot, Need Help!

I just got new ram, mushkin basic green pc3200 512mb and I got the "load needed dlls for hal" error, so I tried to do a repair installation of Windows. As setup was loading, my pc reboots itself. When it reboots, it beeps(I assume something's wrong with the memory), and my monitor is blank. I tried reseating my ram, but that didn't help. So, I cleared the CMOS, hoping that would work. The next time I reboot, my monitor is still blank, but there are no beeps. I put my old memory back in, but that didn't work either. I unattached my hs, so I could check if something was wrong with the CPU, but it looked fine. I boot my computer again, and I still get the same results. I would really love to get it working again, as it is my only PC with enogh power to complete some video editing I need for school on Monday.
 
have you looked at the video card? if nothing is coming up look to see that its set into the agp or pci slot correctly.
 
What do the beeps sound like? The beep codes always tell you what the problem is. If its one long beep followed by three or four short ones, its the vid card. If its endless short beeps, its the memory (I think).

Apart from that, go over everything to make sure it is all connected fine.
 
I don't get beeps anymore,but it was just 1 long beep, so from the guide, it said that the memory is not correctly seated. I've checked over all connections and everything seems alright.
 
checked for any shorts to the case? Everything is seated and connected fine?

The next step is to take the everything including the RAM out and try and boot it up. You should get one long beep. Then put only the RAM in. Then put the vid card in. See if there are any beeps or any result from any of those listed. This will narrow the list to possible faults down somewhat.
 
Check to make sure the RAM is in correct. Once I didn't push down hard enough and my computer wouldn't do anything. On a different occasion for and unknown reason my keyboard connection came loose and my PC wouldn't even POST.
 
well, this seems obvious to me, but did you try with your old RAM? I assume you still have the old RAM. That way at least you have a computer and you know for sure that it's the new RAM causing the issue.

If you change the RAM, and then all of a sudden the computer won't boot, there's a good chance the RAM is bad or not installed correctly.
 
I've already tried the old ram and new ram. It won't post with either. I don't have time to check every component right now, I'll do that after I get home from school.
