I was playing with a CAD model on how I could mount a Mac Mini, PS2, Xbox and PC in one case. I figured out the Mac Mini and PS2 I am not sure how to make the Xbox fit with out killing the air flow.
Heres a pic of how I am thinking of mount the Mac and Ps2.

how were you planning to get to the ps2's cd/dvd drive? i guess you could easily enough cut a hole for the mini mac cd drive but it's in kinda an awkward position

The small PS2 Top Loads that why theres a hole above it. I could think of another way to mount the mini with out messing up the air flow.

Do Xbox CD-roms even work when sideways? Because if not, I don't see how you're going to mount that inside the case. Unless you're going with a big hard drive and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

If it was me I would scrap that computer case idea, and build my own exclosure for the 3 devices.
PS2 on top since its a top mount, the mac in the middle because that makes sence, and the Xbox on the bottom because its the best base.

The mini is 6.5x 6.5 x2 so why not build a mount for it in the 5.25 bay? Alittle work but you can do it.

HMM a 5.25 " bay inclosing a 6.5" x 6.5" pc? Correct me if im wrong but something seems wrong there

Uh.. I said it would require some work to get it done.

This is modding right?

Also you lose some space it you take it out of it's case.

You have about an inch on each side of the 5.25 bay before you hit the side of the case, if you knocked out the bay and used a diffrent way of mounting, it would probably fit.

Hope it's not a LANparty PC, that XBOX weighs almost as much as a whole tower, hehe :D

its been done, along with alot more systems....... Yoshie from Tech TV

It had a xbox, PS2, and Game Cube.

Here is a link to a pic Above the white (non matching) CD ROM is the Xbox Drive. PS2 is on the bottom left (and that is a full sized PS2) and game cube is on top. Major problems, were game saves on PS2 and GC. The card readers were inside the case.

I cant find anymore info on it. Ever since Yoshi was taken off The Screen Savers all his mods are MIA on the techtv website, and since he changed his forums I cant find them there either.

If you want more info, or want to ask the man himself, head over to his forums. Yoshi Forums Search for "yboxx" thats what he called it.

for the xbox, take it apart and get an extender for the dvd-rom drive. and mount the xbox dvd rom is 5.25in bay

Only about 1/4" is gained from removing tn case, from what I've read.

Just a note here, a 'five and one quarter inch' drive bay is 5.75" wide. They got their name from the media that fits in a drive that size (5.25" disks).

I think that your placement of the Mac Mini looks like the best bet. Cutting the sides and cramming it into a drive bay doesn't sound like fun.

I don't know about the small PsTwo, but the older ones you could remove the power/eject buttons from the front, and extend them a bit either with the wire they had on their own, or add your own. It's problematic with the Controller ports, though. Again, with the old one he could just unhitch them and turn them 90* to come out the side of the computer panel. Or they could just dangle outside the case through a hole.

would it be possible to remove the cd drives from both the Xbox and PS2 and mount them in 5.25 bays? perhaps by extending the cords running to the drives by some means? If this is possible then it would also be plausible to say that perhaps you could jerry rig a 3.5 bay to hold the memory card slots?

Just an idea, i have never taken apart a PS2 or Xbox so i wouldn't know what is removable and what isnt.

I was going to move all the switches to teh front. I am thinking of just getting some controler extensions from EB and cut them to fit and mount them in a bay. I don't think I can make everythign fit in an Antec case, I am going to try and get the demensions for a Staker.

you would need to find some really long cables, not to mention the PS2 drive doestn have a standard ribbon cable (id ontknow about the xbox) just a bunch of little ribbon cables and some other little wires connecting hte drive to the mainboard

The stacker is pretty damn huge ill give you that, but its not so immense as you could fit an xbox in with its case on and have room for anything else, also as another guy said i think i recall reading somewhere that xboxes dont like being on their sides as far as cds go. Youd also have a job on modding the front panel because of the way the bay covers are, the grill looks like complete and total arse if anything is touching the back of it.

I reckon your best bet would be, assuming it was going in a stacker, to crack the case off of the xbox and mini and mount the drives/controller ports etc in the front bays, and you could prob fit the ps2 in the top, so you could cut a hole for the drive to load that way, and again, find a way of bringing the ports out.

Have you thought of maybe a yeong yang cube? or one of those mountain mods monstrsoities? or you know, a few shelves ;)

a 5-1/2" is 6" x 3/4" actually.

4" x 1" for a 3-1/2" bay.

Are you measuring depth? I was talking about width, a standard CD bay is 5-3/4" wide. Height is 1-5/8". BTW, it's 5-1/4" for standard floppies, not 5-1/2".

Oddly your measurements for a 3-1/2" floppy bay seem to be correct.

I just made a CAD model of a Stacker that with in 1cm of the acctual size out of 2 JPGs. I am goign to keep plaing with it. With teh room where you can put the extra PSU might let me mount some of the Xbox stuff. Will the Xbox be able to use a normal PC CD drive with out a mod chip?

I'm not sure if the xbox can use a normal PC CD drive, there are only about 3 different drives that will work with the xbox, Thompson, a Samsung, or something else, they're sold on ebay for like $40.

I would suggest taking the xbox apart and mounting just the internals, its basically a motherboard plus power source with connectors to the dvd-rom drive and harddrive. I'm sure you could extend a lot of the ports. You can find a lot of diagrams at http://www.teamxecuter.com/x3/tutorials/x3pin1015.htm, it's an instruction manual for installing the mod chip, but you can see how similar it is to a real computer from the pictures.

Not a CD drive certainly, but not a DVD drive either by the looks of the tutorials over on xbox-scene but i know you can just change the ribbon cable that comes with the original and move it around, it doesnt come with a full face plate, and the eject button would be a ball ache, but seen as youre moving power switches and stuff anyway it shoudlnt be too much of an issue. If you cna find a good enough switch then you could grab the face plates off of an old drive and make xbox one lok pretty much exactly like a pc one i reckon.

Not at home at the moment, but if you need any measurements on the stacker pm me and ill grab them either out of the manual or dig out my trusty tape measure.
