PC to 360 Streaming setup

I have a new 360S wired to my router, PC wired to same router, no wireless between PC and 360

on the Win 7 x64 PC i used the Shark 007 Codec pack, installed the x64 components, and then installed the Divx Plus Tech Preview media player and combined this allows mkv's to be natively streamed via Media Center Extenders (like the 360), no transcoding, etc......

it works really well except for one thing.....on some mkv's the video and audio get out of sync.

the Shark 007 package has a ton of settings that can be changed. im not sure how many of them would affect streaming media as much as they are meant to manipulate local playback.....

wondering if anyone else is using such a setup and can provide insight into the mkv misalignment issues and any optimizations that can be made
 
That's just the nature of the Divx pack. It's not problem free.
 
so its a file packaging issue? that stinks.....i know sometimes i can correct it by hitting rewind for a few seconds and then play, its like it allows the two streams to become synced again, but over time it goes out again
 
It has more to do with the 360 and how MS has just halfassed video playback on it to force people into the Windows Media formats ecosystem.
 
Yeah, I could never get Windows Media Centre to work properly with different video formats, so now I just convert files to the .WMV format if I want to stream them through my Xbox. Certainly isn’t convenient if you just downloaded something and want to watch it immediately, but at least it works and I don’t spend hours friggin’ around with codecs, etc.
 
PS3 Media Server. It works extremely well with the 360 with the exception of 1080p MKV files (720p MKVs work fine though).

I haven't had an issue streaming otherwise with it. Tversity was always glitchy as hell for me so I gave up on it.

considering i am watching these on a 55" 1080p HDTV via HDMI i am not inclined to limit myself to 720p....but i will check it out, thank you

Understandable but its an option and free. On the PS3 1080p streaming works perfectly so it could be just an issue of software between the 360 and PS3 Media server program.

I've also used it to stream 720p content to my iPad without issue.
