PC Suddenly shuts down

Hi guys,

Well yeah lately I have the problem that my PC suddenly restarts when I'm playing games, but it's not a normal restart.. it shut's down(cuts off power) then starts it again. This only happens whem I'm playing games, doesn't happen too often but sometimes it does.. and mostly in C&C GENERALS. It also happens that I suddenly get blackscreen in generals, kinda like artifacts for few secs/mins .. then it disappears, the weird thing is that those artifacts appear on some parts of the gamemap, like on my base there are no artifacts but when I look at the base of my mate the graphics get black and red, the surroundings get black and the units get red.. and when I move away from it to my own base screen goes back to normal.. I've had this only with generals so far and 1 time with farcry 2.

my specs are;
Q6600 @ 3.0ghz
asus maximus formula se
4gb kingston hyperx pc6400
8800 ultra, using 180.48, I had the same on 178.28
thermaltake toughpower 750w
vista ultimate x64

Sounds like your GPU is overheating. Are you overclocking it or is the cooler dust-filled?

Nope, I'm not overclocking it.. and yes, I've checked the cooler it's all clean.

It sounds like a graphics card problem. What are your GPU temps like? Other system temps (cpu cores, chipset, etc)? Are you using the latest drivers? Can you loop 3DMark without the system crashing? Have you run memtest? Have you run Prime95/Orthos SmallFFTs torture test?
